  1. If I could choose one person to advise my life, it would be you. You are kind and gentle while still commanding and in control. I know you'll read all of this and say you don't deserve it, and try to change the subject when we compliment you.
But please accept my thank you.
I came into this year feeling alone, and nervous. But you gave me confidence, you gave me inspiration to be a leader even in uncertain surroundings. You accepted all the quirks and traditions of Outlook so openly, and temper your hard work with humility. Thank you for being our friend, for staying up until the wee hours of the night, for standing as our support and sometimes letting us do the same for you.
I can't imagine what an amazing adviser you'll be in the future, because already in your first year you are better than we ever dreamed to hope for.
Happy Birthday, to a woman whose gentle ways are the working force behind this paper.

  2. MC is most commonly know as the "mic controller" Most used in old school rap. In my case it means Mccall Cowley.

It has recently dawned on me that the two best teachers i have ever had were and are Outlook advisers. I now have the privilege of working under ones advice. I am so glad that you came to this high school made of green and white. For if you had not then i would be down a semester of English 10 and would currently not be on Outlook staff! I praise this class of ours, sixth period. I praise it because we do not have a teacher, we have a friend, an equal, who can help us aspire to do great things.

I for one, am very excited to spend a whole semester with you. I can tell we will be great friends. Luckily for me i joined just at the right time. I joined when we get to celebrate another year of your life. Happy Birthday to my personal favorite MC.

    Love,

  3. Ms. Cowley,

You are such a lovely presence in our lives. You have become our friend as well as our adviser. I always know that you can free us of stress at any time, especially in the middle of the night at pasteup! You always have a sweet smile and expression to match your sweet spirit.

You are so kind, intelligent and wise. Thank you for all your love and support. You inspire me to create and dream to an extent I didn't know was possible.

I am honored to be able to celebrate your life!

Thank you so much for all you have taught us and for being a part of this crazy, lovely, fun group.

  4. I am not going to lie to you Ms. Cowley,
last year I took advantage of you as a teacher, treated you disrespectfully and was in an likelihood a down-right ass in your class (teehee rhyme).

Getting to know you better as a teacher and a person has made me regret and feel a sense of remorse for last year. You have so much to offer everyone, and you give up so much to be with us. I really appreciate everything you do and your modest, yet refreshingly optimistic approach you have taken with every obstacle, situation and event this year.

You always sport a smile, even when you're having a bad day, or when its 3 o'clock in the morning. Very few teachers would sacrifice so much, and very few teachers would be as approachable as both an advisor and a friend.

I have really enjoyed having you in class and at paste-up, and I'm glad we're on good terms now :)
We all love you Ms. Cowley, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  5. You are always nice and understanding, and the respect I have for you is beyond any thing you can imagine. You always offer great constructive criticism and advice, in the nicest possible way.
Outlookers are weird, wild and sometimes engage in awkward activities. But you have handled it beautifully. You helped me so much when my parents were concerned, and they also respect you a lot as a teacher. (My parents don't just like anyone.) I hope you never forget how important you are to this organization and how much we appreciate you.
    FELIZ CUMPLEANOS. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY)

  6. I swear Ms. Cowley, you have got to be superwoman.

Every paste-up you're smiling and cheerful. You're optimistic even when the rest of us are convinced that the ceiling is about to fall down on our heads. You always find time to ask each and every person what they're doing. You then engage in a deep, meaningful conversation with them - while also managing to get your papers graded by Monday morning.

    How do you do it?

I must admit, I don't have much to go off of. I wasn't in Outlook last year, so I have no idea what it was like before. What I can say, though, is that from this newbie's perspective you're doing an amazing job :)

Thank you for always taking the time to give me your opinion on all my graphics and ads, and for eating bunny crackers with Sarah and I :) You're the best.

I'm sorry I couldn't be there today to wish you happy birthday in person :(

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! from across the internet.

    Lots of love,
    Emily

  7. Mrs. Cowley,
You have to be the most amazing teacher I have ever met. You have sacrificed so much for us, like your sleep on wednesdays through fridays just so that we can have paste up. You do so much for us and you are a true angel. I don't think that we could possibly ask for someone better because, well ... there is simple no one better than you for us.

  8. Your ceaseless altruism awes me into silence nearly every time you speak to me. Your kind words, never-ending motivation, helpful attitude, and ability to quite even the most dreadful of tempests do not come close to scratching the surface of your inspirational qualities.

In someways, you are very much like the iceberg that doomed the Titanic, but with very different characteristics and results.

Your quite and quirky charisma were the aspects of your personality that I initially noticed. Although I saw, I kept on sailing, assuming that the charisma wouldn't have an impact on me. I was mistaken: you had even more things that loomed under the surface, catching casual sailors unaware. I was blind-sighted by your helpful insights, positive encouragement, and willingness to answer even my lamest questions. Unlike the Titanic, instead of pulling people down you gently lifted them up, boosting their confidence in their abilities.

Thank you, Ms. Cowley, for everything that you do and will do. I wish that there were a way to adequately express how happy I am that we have you. Happy Birthday.

  9. Ms. Cowley,
Happy Birthday! I wish I was there to celerbrate it with you and the Outlook, but I'm sick at home. I even made you a card, sorry I'll just have to give it to you tomorrow!

Look at this snow! Hope there's as much there as there is on my front lawn. Have fun today, it's your Birthday!

I have heard so many great things about you from the students in your class, I just can't wait to get to know you better! I'm really greatful to be a part of this big happy family, thank you. Happy Birthday!

  10. Ms. Cowley,

I knew I was going to like you as soon as I first met you. From our bad habits (occasional nail biting) to our mutual love of doughnuts, and our cardigan sweaters, we are strangely similar. I'm so happy to be working and learning alongside you. You've taught me multitudes, whether you intended to or not.

I've gained so much from your everlasting smile and your commitment to your students. You are our rock. I, and we, are so lucky to have you as our adviser. There is no way to adequately express how happy and grateful we are, but, being Outlookers, I'm confident we'll get close.

    Happy Birthday!

  11. You're like a ray of warm golden summer sunshine every single day. Sometimes it's hard to believe all the things you do for us. I like to watch you sometimes, pardon how creepy it is, but I just smile. You (and Gracie now that I really think about it) are without question the sweetest human being (let alone adult) that I have ever met.

When ever there's a problem you're there to fix it with a song in your heart. But I think one of the best things about you is your opinions. As an English teacher or newspaper advisor it mustn't be hard to speak eloquently like you do, but I think the real challenge is what you're saying. We could be reading the same book but painting different pictures and I love that about you. It's hard to put into words but I just adore hearing your opinions and having a conversation with you.

So Happy Birthday Ms. Cowley and thank you so much for everything you do for us, for your words, your guidance and your friendship.

you have become an inspiration to me in the past 5 months. your ability to acclamate to outlook is impressive. you handle what we consider ordinary, like late nights and kev's quotes. you also cope really well with things no one really gets used to, like kev measuring his nipple hair. Happy Birthday Ms. Cowley and may you have many more.

  16. I am not good at wiriting long paragraphs to people. So at this point in time, I don't plan on it but please, do not judge how much I and veryone else cares about what you do by how long my reply is. The amount of work and dedication you put forth for us is outstanding it really cannot be put into perfect words how much we all appreciate the things that you do for everysingle one of us nor for the amount you care for each and every single student you have.(Sorry for any grammatical mistakes I may have put into this post, they also do not reflect my or the others gratitude.)

    Thank you, Indefinitely.

  18. I am so surprised that you have accepted all of us so easily! I was afraid that Outlook would receive an advisor, think we are nuts (there is truth in that) and want OUT. But you have become such an essential part of this family!! I love you Mrs. Cowley and thank you for letting me go to the bathroom all the time!!!!! oh yeah sorry for cursing all the time

  20. Mrs. Cowley,
To come into something that is already so established, such as Outlook, must be difficult. I respect you so much and think so highly of you for your calm and collected dispositon amongst Outlook chaos. You have turned out to be a wonderful and caring adviser, and we are all so blessed that you chose to be a part of this. I hope your day is lovely, Happy Birthday!

  21. Ms. Cowley, i am afraid that i am rather new, and i do not know you terribly well (and in my mind, it is a shame) but from the times i met you, i think you are a wonderful person with a superfantastical disposition and a fabulous character. You have been very kind to me, and
very diligent in trying to help me into the class, and for those caring acts I express the utmost sincerity in gratitude. I must say this- that the Snow God is weeping tears of joy at this fateful day, this very birthday day. So... HAPPY BIRTHDAY :D

  24. Ms. Cowley you do so much for us. Every paste-up you stay up late with us so that we may produce a newspaper and at three in the morning you are still a ray of sunshine. I love the way you can just talk to us like we are adults and respect our opinions and abilities. I think you are soooooo adorable, obviously, because I adore you. Thank you so much for taking this position.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS. COWLEY!

  25. Ms. Cowley,
As a newbie I haven't gotten to know you all that well, but from my perspective you seem like a very sweet teacher. You also seem to remain optimistic throughout the trivial events of this newspaper and the crazy antics of the outlookers. I think you handle it all very well and I look forward to getting to know you in my experience on Outlook staff. Happy Birthday!

  27. Ms. Cowley,

I have never known a teacher as willing and as capable of personally connecting with students as you, yet you retain your professionalism so well. I harbor both admiration and love for you, and your dedication to Outlook and the Outlookers is truly awe-inspiring. Thank you infinitely for your compassion and involvement. You will always have a home in room 530, and I will always consider you a friend.

  28. I am never a person that can be crafty with words or pour my heart out; however, you are one of the fewest adults I feel that actually care for each of their students. In every situation in outlook you have always remained calm with a smile. Every day you let us portray are own individual creativity that some teachers find annoying. There is always one teacher that makes a difference in one student’s life, but Ms. Cowley you have made a difference in more than thirty students lives. I hope you have a happy birthday.

Even if you insist otherwise, you give great feedback on articles. I appreciate your dedication to Outlook, and thank you for putting up with my at-times callous nature. You inspire me.

  31. Mrs. Cowely-

I'm going to be honest and clear. I've only really been here for a few days. I really haven't slipped into the flow of the Outlook quite yet. But I'll let it be heard from coast to coast, from sea to shining sea, you've been a really great adviser. I remember when I walked into the doors of this room for the first time to pick up an application, I had this terrible feeling that the teacher here might be a little...intimidating. But lo and behold, I was welcomed by a person who was warm, open, and very conversational, and I immedeatly felt welcome here. In my first few days, I'll reluctantly admit that I was pretty darn nervous, but as soon as you welcomed me into the class and made me feel as though someone was actually pretty excited to see me, I immedeatly felt more confident about what my coming years in the Outlook will be like.

    Happy Birthday Mrs. Cowely!

  32. My old post got deleted.

    In summary,

Thank you for being a role model for me.

Thank you for spending your Wednesdays, hursdays and Fridays with us. We mentally and legally couldn't do it without you.

  33. I'm not shure how to put it. i'm not shure how to express how much I value your opinion, your insight, and your passion. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but thats what your actions and temperment say to me. At times when you are worried your face says, I want this (whatever it may be) for my kids and I'm gonna do everything in my power to get it. I also feel this is what connects us and drives us to spend every available hour spent not sleeping in a classroom glued to a screen for three days straight. we all strive to be the best, and suitably, we have the best of the best for an advisor.
    happy birthday Ms. Cowley
